River Conditions

Lock #2 on the Allegheny River (mile 6.7) will be closed for 15 days beginning on
9-13-10. There is no auxiliary chamber at this lock.
Lock 52 (Ohio River 938.9) currently has 36 hours delay. Smithland Lock (Ohio River
918.5) has no delay.
The main chamber at Meldahl Lock (Ohio River mile 436) will be closed to all
navigation from 9-20-10 through 9-24-10 to allow for gate repairs. All traffic will use
the auxiliary chamber.
The Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal will close from 7:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:00
pm to 5:00 pm between 9-8-10 and 9-11-10. This will be between mile markers
296.1 and 296.7. This closure is to install barriers to prevent the spread of Asian
Carp. The Canal will also have periodic closures between October 4th and 8th, 2010
for the same type of work.
On the Arkansas River, Emmett Sanders Lock (AK66) and Colonel Charles D.
Maynard Lock (AK86.3) are scheduled to be closed to navigation traffic from
8-30 through 9-12-10.
Locks 14 (319.6), 17 (401.4) and 18 (421.6) will be closed on the Arkansas River
for scheduled maintenance and repairs from 12:01 A.M. on 10-13-10 through 11:59
P.M. on 10-17-10.
Bayou Sorrel Lock will begin closing on 7-6-2010 to replace the northwest
guidewall, contractor will work Monday through Saturday from 07:00 to 17:00 until
September, 2011. The lock will be open to traffic from 17:00 to 07:00 nightly during
weekdays and 24 hours on the weekends.
Port Allen Lock will be closed for repairs from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm for 60 days
beginning on 7-28-10. This will impact traffic going to and from the West Canal. 27
hours delay today at Port Allen Lock.
The main chamber at Cannelton Lock (Ohio River 720.7) will be shut down for
repairs beginning August 16, 2010 through September 17, 2010. Current delay is
approximately 36 hours.
Old River Lock (AT 00.00) will be closed for 30 days beginning on 10-15-10 for miter
gate installation.

2010 Repair Schedule
ARKANSAS RIVER
Lock 4 (AK 66) and Lock 5 (AK 86.3) will be closed from August 30th
through September 12th.
OHIO RIVER AREA
Cannelton (720.7) 7-19-10 to 8-7-10 miter gate repairs (auxiliary will be
used)
Lock 52 (938.9) 8-16-10 to 10-9-10 intermittent closures (main
chamber) for repairs to the lower miter gate. (auxiliary will be used)
Lock 53 (962.6) 8-16-10 to 10-9-10 intermittent closures (auxiliary
chamber) for repairs to the lower miter gate. (main chamber will be
used).
Smithland Lock and Dam (918.5) 10-12-10 to10-28-10 miter gate
repairs to the right descending lock chamber. Traffic will pass through
the left descending lock.
Smithland Lock and Dam (918.5) 10-29-10 to 11-15-10 Left descending
lock chamber will be closed for miter gate repairs. All traffic will be
passed through the right descending lock during the closure.
The completion date for repairs at Peoria Lock has been extended until
10-2-10. The lock may be closed 10 hours per day Monday through
Saturday, and only available to lock from 5pm to 7am, and a 70'width
restriction will apply.

Chickamauga Lock TR471-Lock will be closed from 0600 on 7-20-10
through 18:00 on 8-16-10.
Watts Bar Lock TR529.9-Lock is scheduled for closure to navigation
from 0600 on 12 October 2010 through 1800 on 2 November 2010.
There is no auxiliary lock available to pass traffic during this closure.
